PT Jamkrindo continues its commitment to community empowerment by facilitating a hydroponic horticulture training program for members of the Ciletuh Homestay Association in Sukabumi, West Java, on Saturday, June 20, 2020. This initiative aims to add value to homestays in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark (CPUGGp) and provide new economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the training was conducted under strict health protocols, including: Temperature checks for all participants, Mandatory use of masks throughout the session, Personal hand sanitizers provided for every participant, Practical training sessions at the field location with expert facilitators.
PT Jamkrindo President Director, Randi Anto, emphasized that the training was designed to equip homestay owners with additional skills, enabling them to enhance their services for future tourists.
"During the pandemic, tourism activities have significantly slowed down. However, when the situation improves and tourist destinations reopen, homestay owners will be ready to offer unique and improved services to guests," said Randi.
The training program was part of Jamkrindo’s COVID-19 relief efforts, funded through: Salary deductions from directors and employees, THR deductions from executives, Reallocation of the company’s 50th anniversary funds, Donations from PT Jamkrindo Syariah employees.
Through these initiatives, Jamkrindo raised IDR 4.012 billion, which was distributed across 9 regional offices and 56 branch offices nationwide. The relief efforts included: Food supplies and health equipment for affected communities, Medical equipment for hospitals and clinics, Skills training programs tailored to local needs.
Additionally, Jamkrindo allocated IDR 2.5 billion from its Partnership and Community Development Program to support COVID-19 relief efforts across various regions.
"As a company that interacts with the community daily, we want to ease their burden during this challenging time. These initiatives reflect our deep commitment to social responsibility," Randi added.
This program aligns with Jamkrindo’s 50th anniversary celebration on July 1, 2020, which focuses on three key social initiatives: Jamkrindo Cares for Health, Jamkrindo Cares for Education, Jamkrindo Cares for Social Welfare
Ciwaru Village Head, Taopik Guntur, expressed gratitude for Jamkrindo’s commitment to community development, especially during the economic downturn caused by the pandemic.
"This training provides great added value for homestay owners, helping them sustain their businesses even during social restrictions," said Taopik.
Similarly, Ciletuh Homestay Association Chairman, Yudi Mulyadi, highlighted the long-term benefits of the training for homestay owners and tourists.
"We plan to use the harvested produce for guests staying at our homestays. Additionally, we want to offer tourists a hands-on experience in hydroponic farming—something they won’t get at a regular hotel," Yudi explained.
Jamkrindo’s community empowerment programs have been running since 2019, with initiatives in various regions, including: Ciletuh Geopark, West Java, Larantuka, East Nusa Tenggara, Garut, West Java, Kintamani, Bali.
Through these efforts, Jamkrindo continues to support local communities, fostering economic resilience and sustainable development across Indonesia.
