MANADO - Formal and non-formal institutions are working together to combat the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). Similarly, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMNs) in North Sulawesi (Sulut) have come together to raise donations and contribute to the fight against the virus. On Monday, April 20, donations from various BUMNs were gathered, including PT Jamkrindo (Persero) Manado Branch, which directly handed over its contributions to the COVID-19 Task Force for BUMNs in Sulut.
In this effort, Jamkrindo Manado also took on the role of Treasurer for the Task Force, alongside Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), which serves as the Chair of the COVID-19 BUMN Task Force in North Sulawesi. The collected funds will be used to support medical personnel with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as medical gloves and other essential supplies.
Maulana Febrino Poerba, Head of PT Jamkrindo (Persero) Manado Branch, hopes that the donations from BUMNs will be beneficial to medical workers in treating COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized.
“Medical staff are the front line in treating and healing COVID-19 patients,” he said.
He added that Jamkrindo's management is deeply concerned about the spread of COVID-19, which has turned into a global pandemic. In addition to providing assistance, PT Jamkrindo is also promoting healthy living practices among its employees, such as adhering to COVID-19 prevention standards recommended by the government, including wearing masks, washing hands frequently with soap, and practicing social/physical distancing.
Since February 2020, the virus has spread in Indonesia, with the number of cases continuing to rise. In North Sulawesi, the number of confirmed positive cases has also increased. "We hope this pandemic will end soon, so that life can return to normal, and the economy can recover," he concluded.
