Perum Jamkrindo participated in greening the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark area as part of its efforts to support environmental preservation. This program was carried out through the first phase of planting hundreds of trees at Palangpang Beach, Ciwaru Village, Ciemas Subdistrict, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, on Sunday, December 15, 2019.
The tree planting event was combined with a beach cleanup program at Palangpang Beach, which is part of the anti-plastic waste campaign in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark. This anti-plastic waste campaign aims to make the Geopark Ciletuh area more beautiful, increase visitors, and boost the local economy.
Perum Jamkrindo's Director, Sulis Usdoko, explained that the environmental preservation program in Geopark Ciletuh is one of the company's efforts to support the development of the geopark area alongside the Sukabumi Regency Government and the communities in the area. "We are confident that by improving cleanliness and sustainability, the geopark area will become a destination that adds value, especially with the implementation of the anti-plastic waste campaign," said Sulis.
Around 300 people, including the local community, students from Ciemas Subdistrict, and tourism community groups in the geopark area, participated in the tree planting. Also present at the event were members of the Sukabumi Regency DPRD, H Ujang Abdurrohim Rochmi, Head of the Sukabumi Regency Cooperation Department, Yudi Pancayoga, and Perum Jamkrindo's Corporate Secretary, Abdul Bari.
Ujang acknowledged that Jamkrindo's presence in Ciletuh could increase the community's spirit in protecting the environment. "We would like to thank Jamkrindo for contributing to environmental preservation in Ciletuh and for starting the education and anti-plastic waste campaign. We believe this collaboration will yield positive results, and we, the Ciletuh community, are ready to protect our environment from plastic waste," said Ujang.
In addition to tree planting and waste cleanup, Perum Jamkrindo also provided dozens of waste bins made from recycled drums, which were decorated with paintings in collaboration with local communities, as well as educational signs about waste decomposition times, such as styrofoam waste that cannot decompose. The waste bins were placed at several points in Palangpang Beach, Curug Sodong, Curug Cimarinjung, and Puncak Darma in Ciemas Subdistrict.
After starting in Ciemas Subdistrict, similar activities and economic empowerment programs will be carried out in seven other subdistricts in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark area. This is part of a collaborative agreement between Perum Jamkrindo and the Sukabumi Regency Government to improve the local economy in the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark over a three-year period.
