MAUMERE – Perum Jamkrindo is committed to continuing to contribute to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit in the community. This commitment is implemented through seminars at Nusa Nipa University Maumere and Larantuka Teacher and Technology Institute, East Nusa Tenggara.
In addition to its core business being related to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the commitment to develop MSMEs and foster the entrepreneurial spirit is also driven by the high absorption of labor in this sector, while the contribution of MSMEs to the economy is still relatively small.
Perum Jamkrindo’s President Director, Randi Anto, explained that the development of MSMEs and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit is in line with efforts to increase their role in the economy. "This is the company’s real contribution to be present in the community, and together with the community, we want to increase our contribution to the country," said Randi Anto.
Perum Jamkrindo has made various efforts to boost the entrepreneurial spirit and expand the scale of MSME businesses. Activities that have been carried out include MSME ranking and management consultations, partnership programs, and community development, as well as other activities carried out in collaboration with various parties.
The latest activity carried out by Perum Jamkrindo to foster the entrepreneurial spirit was through a public lecture at universities by the Director of HR, General Affairs, and Compliance of Perum Jamkrindo, Sulis Usdoko, in Maumere and Larantuka, on Thursday and Friday, March 28-29, 2019. On Thursday, Sulis Usdoko delivered the lecture in Maumere, while on Friday, the lecture continued in Larantuka.
This activity also served as part of a series of events in welcoming Perum Jamkrindo’s 49th anniversary on July 1 through the Jamkrindo Peduli Pendidikan (Jamkrindo Cares for Education) program. According to Sulis, to foster an entrepreneurial spirit, several factors must be considered, including leadership and changes in the business environment.
"The entrepreneurial spirit must continue to be encouraged because entrepreneurship must be able to solve problems with solutions derived from new ideas. There is an opportunity, and then a new idea is offered to solve the problem," said Sulis.
The ability to adapt to changing environments is very important, including changes in the business environment due to the 4.0 industrial revolution. "Changes in the business environment will continue to occur. The ability to adapt to these changes will determine the survival of businesses. Moving forward, changes in the environment should be seen as something normal, but the most important thing is the response and adaptation to changes in the business environment," said Sulis.
In addition to changes in the business environment, leadership factors are also very important for nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit. The ability to lead oneself strongly will determine the success of a business and should be reflected in simple ideas.
The public lecture at Nusa Nipa University was attended by around 800 students. The Rector of Nusa Nipa University, Angelinus Vincencius, stated that the public lecture on entrepreneurship is very important to boost students’ spirits in facing changes in the business environment. Through this lecture, students are expected to understand the right self-development model and gain knowledge to become entrepreneurs.

The development of MSMEs is a shared responsibility, so the collaboration between Unipa and Perum Jamkrindo is the right strategy to respond to changes in the business environment," said Angelinus.
