Perum Jamkrindo is opening its doors to young talents by inviting them to join the Certified Student Internship Program (PMMB). With the theme "Build People, Build The Future", this certified internship program has entered its second batch, with a total of 192 participants.
The Director of Human Resources, General Affairs, and Compliance of Perum Jamkrindo, Sulis Usdoko, explained that the internship program offered by Perum Jamkrindo is not merely to give young talents the opportunity to enter the workforce. More importantly, the company aims to prepare future generations with superior competencies that can respond to changing times, especially in the era of VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) and Industry 4.0.
“We don’t just equip them with hard skills, but also with soft skills necessary to become future leaders,” Sulis said during the welcome speech for the second batch of interns at Perum Jamkrindo on Monday, February 25, 2019.
For example, in the first batch, during the six-month internship, students were equipped with knowledge about the guarantee industry, SMEs and entrepreneurship, as well as leadership and work ethics through interactive classes with expert mentors.
In addition to formal classes, there were also non-formal classes such as a leadership camp held for two days in Gunung Bunder, Bogor, covering leadership, synergy, and collaboration. Furthermore, some of the interns were given the opportunity to visit Perum Jamkrindo’s operational areas across Indonesia and attend basic guarantee modules, as part of the engagement program for the best participants in their batch.
“We are very focused on equipping them with leadership skills. We don’t want the internship to just be about spending work hours and receiving a certificate. They must be truly ready to become future leaders with the agility to become game-changers,” Sulis explained.
While the first batch was limited to opportunities at the Head Office, the second batch expanded to regional offices, with 65 participants assigned to the Head Office, while 57 others were assigned to branch offices and regional offices of Perum Jamkrindo.
“There are a total of 122 interns in the second batch,” he added. As a company that sets the benchmark for all guarantee companies in Indonesia, Sulis emphasized that Perum Jamkrindo views HR development as a strategic issue. All employees at Perum Jamkrindo are experts in the guarantee field and in managing SME databases.
“The core competencies are from A to Z,” he stated. Up until now, Perum Jamkrindo has partnered with several universities across Indonesia to ensure the success of this certified internship program, which is an initiative from the government, specifically the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) through the Forum Human Capital Indonesia (FHCI). Some of the universities involved include Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, IPB, and others. “A total of 37 universities have collaborated with Perum Jamkrindo,” Sulis concluded.
Meanwhile, the Head of the HR Division of Perum Jamkrindo, Erna Zubaeda, added that some of the interns will be selected to become New Entry Junior Prohire at Perum Jamkrindo. Those who are selected will be those who have demonstrated the best performance and work ethic.
The Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni at UNJ, Dr. Achmad Sofyan Hanif, M.P, praised Perum Jamkrindo's certified internship program. According to him, Perum Jamkrindo is one of the state-owned enterprises (BUMNs) that has involved the most students in its certified internship program.
“In the first and second batches, we had a great opportunity to send 52 students. Our students were very enthusiastic and proud to be part of this program,” he said.
Fenly Linar, an alumni of Vocational Program at Universitas Indonesia, shared his experience during his internship at Perum Jamkrindo. He said that the program had a significant impact on his future career development. “I gained a lot of knowledge at Perum Jamkrindo, and having a certificate from Perum Jamkrindo will also serve as a portfolio that can help my career development in the future,” Fenly added.
