The 73rd Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day was celebrated with various activities across nearly all levels of Indonesian society, both domestically and internationally. In the province of Gorontalo, for instance, thousands of people enthusiastically participated in a 5-kilometer healthy walk organized by the state-owned credit guarantee company, Perum Jamkrindo. The event took place at the Taruna Field in the heart of Gorontalo City on Saturday (18/8/2018).
The healthy walk event was officially opened by the President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, Randi Anto, and was warmly welcomed by the community. Also present at the event were the Director of Finance, Investment, and Risk Management of Perum Jamkrindo, I Rusdonobanu; the Assistant Deputy for Social Responsibility and Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of BUMN, Indriani Widiastuti; the Regional Police Chief (Kapolda); and local government officials.
Randi Anto, the President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, stated that the healthy walk event in celebration of the independence anniversary was filled with various activities, including competitions, live music entertainment, and door prize giveaways. Additionally, Perum Jamkrindo organized a market offering affordable basic food packages, with all proceeds from the sale being donated. These activities, which took place in Gorontalo Province, are part of the BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri (State-Owned Enterprises Present for the Nation) program.
“This is a commitment and a tangible manifestation of Perum Jamkrindo’s role in building awareness about the role of the Ministry of BUMN as a development agent. In practice, BUMNs continue to play an active role in development as part of their real work to fill the independence that was fought for by our heroes,” said Randi Anto in Gorontalo on Saturday (18/8/2018).
According to Randi Anto, the healthy walk is one of the events organized by the Ministry of BUMN as part of the celebration of Indonesia's 73rd Independence Day across all provinces in the country. For the fourth consecutive year, all BUMNs simultaneously held activities as part of BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri, demonstrating their commitment to staying engaged with the community.
Perum Jamkrindo acted as the coordinator for the event in collaboration with Perum Perumnas as the implementing BUMN for the BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri program. A series of activities were carried out to ignite the spirit of Red and White in Gorontalo Province, including the Siswa Mengenal Nusantara (SMN) program, the healthy walk, flag-raising ceremonies, and social assistance for basic community needs such as public infrastructure, labor-intensive programs, affordable markets, and providing clean water facilities in the vicinity of Hiu Paus Beach in Bone Bolango Regency.
As part of the SMN program, Perum Jamkrindo sent 24 top students from Gorontalo Province to Lampung for a seven-day student exchange program, allowing them to experience and appreciate the cultural diversity and natural wealth of other provinces. Among the 24 students, three were special-needs students, and they were accompanied by teachers as well as the Gorontalo Provincial Education, Culture, and Sports Department (Dikbudpora).
