Perusahaan Umum (Perum) Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo) celebrated its 48th anniversary at Ecopark, Ancol, Jakarta, on Saturday, July 21, 2018. The event was filled with enthusiasm and was organized as a family gathering.
The celebration came amidst promising business performance achievements. In the first half of 2018, the state-owned company responsible for providing credit guarantees for micro, small, medium enterprises, and cooperatives (UMKMK) recorded a credit guarantee volume of IDR 75.7 trillion. This represented a 22.1% increase compared to the same period in 2017, which amounted to IDR 62 trillion. The credit guarantee volume in the first half of 2018 consisted of IDR 27.3 trillion in People's Business Credit (KUR) and IDR 48.4 trillion in non-KUR.
In 2017, the credit guarantee volume reached IDR 135 trillion. For 2018, Jamkrindo has set a target of IDR 156 trillion in credit guarantees.
"Growth is supported by business expansion, especially from the non-KUR program, which has grown even larger," said Randi Anto, President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, on Saturday in Jakarta.
In line with its mandate to guarantee credit for UMKMK, Perum Jamkrindo continues to innovate to ensure business sustainability. In addition to supporting the government's KUR program, Perum Jamkrindo is also developing new products, both for guaranteeing credit outside of KUR and other guarantee products. This is reflected in the promising growth of non-KUR business guarantees.
Various events were held to commemorate the 48th anniversary of Perum Jamkrindo, including free cataract surgery for 70 people in Sumedang, West Java, blood donation, the distribution of 4,800 basic food packages, and assistance to 3,470 orphans. The Gerakan Jamkrindo Peduli Pendidikan (GJPP) initiative and the Jamkrindo Startup Challenge (JSC) competition were also part of the celebrations.
In GJPP, the Supervisory Board, Board of Directors, and all employees voluntarily provided educational support in the form of school supplies, knowledge books, stationery, and uniforms for elementary and junior high school students. The distribution of educational support packages took place simultaneously across all units of Perum Jamkrindo on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 10:00 AM WIB. "GJPP set a MURI world record for the largest school supplies donation to students, with a total of 30,000 packages (53,000 items)," said Randi Anto.
During the peak celebration of Perum Jamkrindo's 48th anniversary, Jaya Suprana, Chairman of the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI), personally handed over the record certificate to Randi Anto.
The Jamkrindo Startup Challenge (JSC) is a competition organized by Perum Jamkrindo for startup companies. The competition aims to identify potential startups in the field of food security, addressing one of Indonesia's biggest future challenges: food. After going through various stages, the top three startups were recognized and awarded: Tanihood, Sirtanio Organik Indonesia, and Ladang Lima.
To maintain the momentum of business growth, Perum Jamkrindo has adopted the tagline: "Let's Change and Grow." The focus of change is on operational systems, business perspectives, business models, work attitudes, and changes in almost all aspects. Meanwhile, growth is directed at non-conventional business products, or products outside of KUR guarantees.
From 2008 to 2017, Perum Jamkrindo guaranteed 14.49 million KUR customers. From 2013 to 2017, the volume of credit guarantees increased at an average annual growth rate of 31.58%. A total of 20.38 million workers in UMKM have had their credit guaranteed by Jamkrindo.
In addition to strengthening its main business line in credit guarantees for UMKM, Perum Jamkrindo is also diversifying its products. In 2017, Perum Jamkrindo partnered with two financial technology (fintech) startups. This year, the target is to add two more fintech startups whose financing/credits can be guaranteed by Perum Jamkrindo.
