KADIN: Guarantees Facilitate Access to Capital for MSMEs

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have increasingly become a strategic position in the national economy. With 57.8 million units, MSMEs contribute up to 99.9 percent. "It cannot be denied. MSMEs are very strategic," said the Chairman of the Infrastructure Division of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Diding S. Anwar, during a seminar organized by the BPK Education and Training Center, Pasar Minggu, Friday (27/10).

Diding even mentioned that the national average absorption of the workforce stands at 97 percent. This figure exceeds the workforce absorption carried out by other business entities.

However, ironically, MSMEs remain in a weak position. Diding mentioned that MSMEs still struggle to obtain capital and improve their position to "move up the ladder." "MSMEs are considered feasible but not bankable," he added.

Therefore, a new perspective on providing access to capital for MSMEs must be prioritized. The former CEO of Jamkrindo reminded that the guarantee mechanism should facilitate MSMEs in obtaining credit. "Banks should provide credit if there is already a guarantee," he hoped. (source: keuangan.co)
