Perusahaan Umum Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Perum Jamkrindo) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB), a leading educational institution in Malaysia, to develop experts in the guarantee industry. The agreement was signed by Perum Jamkrindo's President Director Diding S. Anwar and AICB Board Member Datuk Muhammad Azmi at the Conference Hall of Bank Negara Malaysia on Friday, August 11, 2017.
The event was attended by several officials from Perum Jamkrindo, including the Director of Operations and Network R. Sophia Alizsa, Director of Finance and HR of PT Jamkrindo Syariah Endang Sriwinarni, Perum Jamkrindo Corporate Secretary Abdul Bari, Head of Suretyship and Non-Bank Guarantee Division Amin Mas'udi, Head of HR Division Sudibyo Utomo, Head of Finance and Investment Division Aribowo, Head of Legal Division Natsir Rahmadi, and Chief of Business Guarantee Division Agus Supriadi.
During the event, Diding expressed that Perum Jamkrindo welcomed the collaboration, noting that AICB, established in 1977, has a strong network and highly skilled human resources. "We hope this cooperation will bring benefits to the development of companies in both Indonesia and Malaysia. I also believe this partnership will bring new changes for both sides to grow the business in both countries in the future," said Diding.
Diding also emphasized that the collaboration aims not only to improve the human resources of Perum Jamkrindo and Jamkrindo Syariah but also to enhance the quality of human resources across all guarantee companies in Indonesia, which are members of the Indonesian Guarantee Company Association (Asippindo). "Indonesia already has 34 Jamkrida across 34 provinces," Diding added.
For Diding, the strategic MoU is a step to address future challenges for Jamkrindo in the era of fintech disruption. "Besides focusing on digitalization, we are committed to improving the capabilities and capacities of existing and future human resources by engaging in international collaboration and sharing sessions with AICB, particularly in professional education related to guarantee and non-bank financial services, which must be recognized as a standard in the industry," explained Diding.
To implement the MoU, Diding said the education and development programs would include professional financial education, professional guarantee training, and professional capacity building. "With this professional education, participants will receive certifications, which will be recognized for those who complete the program. Most importantly, practitioners in the guarantee industry must meet the requirements of this certification as an indicator of their ability to operate in the guarantee industry, both locally and in terms of international competitiveness," he added.
In his speech, AICB Board Member Datuk Muhammad Azmi shared that discussions about collaborating with Jamkrindo had been ongoing since April of this year. "I am pleased that this has led to the signing of this important MoU. We are also honored to collaborate with Perum Jamkrindo, the first and largest credit guarantee company in Indonesia, focusing on both conventional and sharia credit guarantee business activities," said Datuk Muhammad.
Datuk Muhammad explained that the partnership with Jamkrindo aims to develop the professionalism of credit guarantee practitioners at Jamkrindo and ensure they possess the expertise to meet future demands and challenges. "The short-term priority for both parties is to work on implementing this initiative," he emphasized.
Datuk Muhammad added that the MoU marks an important step for both companies to become stronger, promote, cooperate, and assist each other in terms of professional financial education. The scope of the cooperation includes expertise exchange, AICB promotion, and credit qualifications for Jamkrindo staff development. "In the future, the collaboration between AICB and Jamkrindo will be guided by the principles outlined in the MoU," he concluded.
Moreover, Datuk Muhammad mentioned that the MoU would strengthen not only the relationship between AICB and Jamkrindo but also between Indonesia and Malaysia. "As we know, one of the largest banks in Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, will begin operations as a commercial bank in Malaysia later this year," he concluded.
