Perum Jamkrindo Grows to Become the Locomotive of the Guarantee Industry

Perum Jamkrindo celebrated its 47th anniversary on July 3, 2017, with simultaneous events held at all of its branch offices across Indonesia. The series of anniversary activities began with a ceremony followed by a thanksgiving event, a traditional tumpeng cutting by the President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, Diding S. Anwar, and a Halal Bihalal event involving management, employees, and the subsidiaries of PT Jamkrindo Syariah.

Since its inception in 1970, Perum Jamkrindo has made significant contributions to advancing UMKMK (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises, and Cooperatives) in Indonesia. On its 47th anniversary, Perum Jamkrindo continues to grow and solidify its role as the locomotive of the guarantee industry in the country. The theme for this year's celebration was "Guaranteeing UMKMK Towards a Glorious Indonesia."

"The company remains committed to expanding the guarantee market by establishing new partnerships with both banking and non-banking sectors, as well as conducting strategic studies to create guarantee products that align with offerings from both banks and non-banking institutions," said Diding in his speech.

The origins of Perum Jamkrindo trace back to the establishment of the Cooperative Credit Guarantee Institution (LJKK) on July 1, 1970, as per the Decree of the Minister of Transmigration and Cooperatives No. 99/Kpts/MENTRANSKOP/1970, to support the development of cooperatives in Indonesia by providing credit guarantees.

Later, under Government Regulation No. 51 of 1981, the LJKK was merged into Perum PKK (Perum Pengembangan Keuangan Koperasi) under Government Regulation No. 95 of 2000, and the name changed to Perum Sarana Pengembangan Usaha.

In time, based on Government Regulation No. 41 of 2008, Perum Sarana Pengembangan Usaha was renamed Perum Jamkrindo. The historical merger of LJKK into Perum PKK marks the foundation of Perum Jamkrindo, which is commemorated every year on July 1.

The enactment of Law No. 1 of 2016 on Credit Guarantee and Financial Services Authority Regulations (POJK) No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 of 2017 further solidified the guarantee industry, opening new opportunities for Perum Jamkrindo to continue developing as a key player supporting Indonesia's economy through guarantees for UMKMK.

As of May 31, 2017, Perum Jamkrindo's total assets amounted to IDR 14.018 trillion, with equity reaching IDR 10.594 trillion. The company reported a pre-tax consolidated profit of IDR 320.106 billion and a guarantee volume of IDR 20.296 trillion, while the volume for non-KUR credit guarantees reached IDR 38.646 trillion. This year, the company continues to strive for improved performance through various strategic initiatives, including expanding its network by adding 56 branch offices and 14 service units.

To ensure business reliability, the company has also implemented an integrated IT system to enhance business process effectiveness and operational activities. Another key initiative is optimizing the operational network by establishing standardized organizational structures, business targets, unit work classifications, and layouts that will be applied across all of Perum Jamkrindo's branch offices.

The 47th anniversary celebrations included sports competitions, blood donations, the Jamkrindo Talent Show, awards for written works and photojournalism, and the distribution of 7,775 free food packages to local communities around Perum Jamkrindo offices across Indonesia. Additionally, Perum Jamkrindo conducted a Ramadan Safari in five remote districts/cities, including Watampone, Tanjung Selor, Lubuk Linggau, Mandailing Natal, and Flores, to provide charity to orphans and organize sports competitions for its employees.
