PALU | A total of 37 State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in Palu City will collaborate under the coordination of Perum Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo) to organize various social activities and ceremonies to celebrate the 71st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2016.

"There are about 13 activities that we will carry out together," said Hamim Bugi Afianto, Head of Regional Office IX of Perum Jamkrindo, while leading a coordination meeting for the preparation of the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri event to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day 2016 at PT Telkom Palu's office on Tuesday (July 19, 2016).

According to Hamim, this BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri event is being held for the second time after being initiated in 2015 based on the instruction of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises No. S-391 dated June 30, 2016.

The main objective of this event is to instill a sense of pride as a nation rich in cultural diversity and to reflect the role of BUMN in society, while also fostering an understanding of the role of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises as an agent of development.

The 37 BUMN will organize 13 different activities, five of which are new and were not held in the previous year.

These new activities include skills training for prisoners receiving independence remissions to help them live independently, support for former outstanding athletes, the establishment of childcare centers in markets, development programs for remote, border, and conflict-prone villages, and the construction of clean water facilities for the community.

Additionally, these BUMN will hold a low-cost market, selling 1,000 staple food packages worth Rp100,000 for only Rp25,000, a health walk, various competitions, and a flag-raising ceremony on August 17, 2016.

For the veteran home renovation program, similar to what was done in 2015, this year’s BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri initiative will renovate eight veteran homes: three units in Parigi Moutong Regency, three units in Palu City, and two units in Donggala Regency.

These BUMN will also support a student exchange program involving 20 students between Central Sulawesi Province and Riau Province through the "Siswa Mengenal Nusantara" program. They will also continue the "BUMN Mengajar" program, where BUMN leaders are assigned to teach at elementary, junior high, and senior high/vocational schools.

Regarding the funding for these activities, Hamim did not disclose the specific budget allocation but stated that, following the Minister of BUMN's directive, funding will be adjusted to each BUMN's budget, prioritizing sources from community development funds, corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds, and promotional budgets in accordance with applicable regulations.

"For activities in Central Sulawesi, the majority of the budget will be borne by Perum Jamkrindo, which has been designated by Minister of BUMN Rini M. Sumarno as the PIC (person in charge) for all BUMN with offices or activities in Palu City," he said.

The 37 BUMN operating in Palu City include Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, BTN, Pegadaian, Askrindo, Jasindo, PNM, Pertamina, Telkom, Bulog, LKBN Antara, Pelindo, Pelni, Pos Indonesia, PLN, Waskita Karya, Kimia Farma, and Adhi Karya.

Other participating BUMN include PT Taspen, Jiwasraya, ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Garuda Indonesia, Jasa Raharja, Hutama Karya, Sucofindo, Banda Graha Reksa, Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia, Perum Percetakan Negara, Damri, Perumnas, Semen Tonasa, Pusri, Asabri, Pupuk Kaltim, and Rajawali Nusa Indonesia.
