MAKASSAR | Perum Jamkrindo has mapped 23 warehouses in the Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua regions that have the potential to be guaranteed by the company in the implementation of warehouse receipt guarantees.
The Head of Jamkrindo Regional Office IX for Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua, Hamim Bugi Afianto, said that all these warehouses have received approval as SRG warehouses and have stored several required commodities.
However, he continued, the implementation of the warehouse receipt system (SRG) guarantee has not yet been carried out by the company as it is still awaiting technical guidelines from the head office, certainty regarding the form of guarantee funds, and operational funds planned to come from State Capital Participation (PMN).
"We conducted a survey across all operational areas of Regional Office IX, where so far there are 23 SRGs that we can guarantee if the implementation of the SRG guarantee has been carried out," he told Bisnis on Wednesday (June 22, 2016).
He detailed that most of these warehouses are concentrated in the Sulawesi Regional area, with a total of 21, while the Maluku and Papua Regional areas each have one warehouse.
The commodities stored in these warehouses are the leading commodities of each region, including coffee, cocoa, rice, corn, pepper, and several others.
According to Hamim, South Sulawesi has the most SRG-qualified warehouses, with a total of 10, followed by Southeast Sulawesi with 4, while the rest are spread across the provinces within the company's operational areas.
"Possibly, in the second half of this year, the implementation of the SRG guarantee will already be running effectively, including in Regional Office IX," he explained.
For information, Perum Jamkrindo has been appointed by the government as the Implementing Institution for the Warehouse Receipt System Guarantee (LPP SRG), as stated in Government Regulation No. 1/2016, which allows the company to act similarly to the Deposit Insurance Corporation in the banking system.
Under this regulation, the company provides guarantees for 10 commodities: unhulled rice, rice, corn, coffee, cocoa, pepper, rubber, seaweed, and salt.
Hamim explained that the company will guarantee the rights and interests of warehouse receipt holders or guarantee right recipients against failures, negligence, or the inability of warehouse managers to fulfill their obligations to store and deliver goods as stated in the Warehouse Receipt.
On the other hand, the SRG guarantee will also help improve the company's overall guarantee performance, which has so far been supported by both KUR and non-KUR guarantees.
In the first half of this year, Jamkrindo Regional Office IX recorded a guarantee volume of Rp6.04 trillion, with 55% sourced from KUR and the remaining Rp2.67 trillion from the non-KUR guarantee segment. (Source: Bisnis.com)
