Brebes | President Joko Widodo on Monday, April 11, 2016, today, made a working visit to Brebes, Central Java. The President will launch a synergy program for the people's economy at the agribusiness terminal in Larangan Village, Larangan District, Brebes Regency, Central Java.
According to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, this program is a government program to optimize the production of shallots and chilies in Brebes Regency. The program also aims to stabilize the prices of shallots and chilies. Brebes will be used as a "warehouse" for shallot production.
The government is currently trying to cut the distribution of 11-12 commodities, including shallots, from farmers to consumers. Onions are a commodity that is of concern because they are considered to have unique characteristics. During harvest, stocks are abundant. However, after the harvest is over, they are easily damaged.
Brebes is a center for shallot commodities. Therefore, this place will be built like a storage place for shallot commodity materials. The goal is that shallots can still be used after the harvest season ends without being damaged. Therefore, after the harvest season, stocks will not run low so that they do not affect the prices of other necessities.
Darmin, on this visit, accompanied the President. Other parties who joined the group were Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Governor of Bank Indonesia Agus Martowardojo, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Head of the Presidential Staff Office Teten Masduki.
Before launching this economic program, President Joko Widodo first reviewed and inaugurated the construction of the East Brebes Toll Road, the gateway to Pejagan. (source: tempo.co)
