Jakarta | After announcing the 11th installment of its economic policy package last week, the government plans to release the 12th economic policy package. This package is expected to be announced within the next week to ten days.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution stated that one of the policies to be introduced will aim to simplify the establishment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). "This falls under the category of ease of doing business," he said last weekend.
According to Darmin, the government will streamline the licensing process for establishing MSMEs, as the current process remains lengthy.
In principle, MSME licensing is under the authority of local governments. However, "So far, local government policy references come from ministries and institutions. This is what will be improved," Darmin explained.
Previously, Minister of Cooperatives and MSMEs Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga added that the plan to simplify the business licensing process for MSMEs will be carried out by revising Presidential Regulation No. 98/2014 on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Business Licenses. With this revision, MSME entrepreneurs will no longer need to go through a licensing process.
Shorter Process
MSME entrepreneurs, Puspayoga said, will only need to register their businesses with the government. This way, the government believes the process of establishing MSMEs can be significantly shortened.
Puspayoga has yet to detail the registration process for MSME entrepreneurs. However, he assured that, in the future, MSME business registration will take only one hour.
Rudy Salahudin, Deputy for Creative Economy, Entrepreneurship, and MSME Competitiveness at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, stated that even with just a registration certificate, MSMEs will still be able to operate legally. (source: kompas.com)
