Surabaya | In accordance with the instructions from the Ministry of Defense, starting in 2016, every Indonesian citizen is required to participate in the national defense program, which will first be implemented by state-owned enterprises (BUMN). One of the state-owned banks in Surabaya is conducting national defense training. The training, attended by 150 employees at the regional leadership level, deputy regional leadership, branch leaders, and credit center heads, is intended to ensure that these company leaders can serve as role models for their subordinates.
The national defense training program, as instructed by the Ministry of Defense, refers to the 1945 Constitution and Law No. 3 of 2002 on National Defense. It states that national defense is an obligation that must be carried out by all citizens, including civilians, through forms such as civic education, basic military training, and professional service.
"The purpose of this civilian national defense program is to build character among employees, especially in state-owned enterprises, so that they develop a stronger national idealism and greater love for the homeland," said Major General TNI Hartind Asrin on Sunday (13/3).
As an initial phase, the national defense activities within state-owned enterprises will be attended by regional leaders, deputy regional leaders, branch leaders, and credit center heads.
"This training is provided to leaders because they serve as role models for their subordinates, ensuring they can set an example for their teams," said Disril, Senior Executive Vice President of BNI’s Network and Services.
In this national defense training, the materials provided include Pancasila values as the foundation of the state, domestic and national banking topics, values of unity and national understanding, marching techniques, and an introduction to the national defense system.
Through this training, employees are expected to develop basic national defense skills with attitudes and behaviors that embody Pancasila.
"Later, the values learned must be fostered and developed in the workplace," hoped Disril.
