MSMEs Get Low Interest Capital Credit, but There Are Conditions

Jakarta | The government will provide full support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that are export-oriented or involved in activities supporting exports by providing capital credit. This is included in the Phase IV Economic Policy Package announced at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Thursday (15/10) evening.

The requirement is that the company must not lay off employees.

"We want these MSMEs to continue producing their products for export and supporting exports. They should also not lay off their employees. Therefore, we are focusing on a type of working capital loan with an interest rate lower than the commercial interest rate," said Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro in a press conference.

According to Bambang, the priority is labor-intensive companies that are at risk of layoffs but have export activities or are involved in export-related activities. Even if a company does not export directly but supports or supplies input or raw materials used by producers in exports, it will still be considered.

Bambang stated that, based on data from the Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI), there are currently 600 companies receiving capital. This credit will complement the loans these companies or MSMEs receive from other banking institutions or LPEI.

The loan amount provided is Rp 50 billion. The types of commodities that will be supported include furniture, wood products, handicrafts, textile products, marine fisheries, and agricultural and plantation products.

"As for banking partners with LPEI, they will include state-owned banks, private banks, venture capital firms, and leasing companies," added Bambang.

According to him, LPEI already has data on companies that are potential recipients of this special low-interest credit assistance. These companies are located in Aceh, North Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Ambon, and Papua.
