Bankers, financial community members, senior editors, non-banking actors, and banking regulators gathered to perform ketoprak together at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Cikini, Central Jakarta. The jokes exchanged among the bankers revolved around their daily work, especially the dominance of the dollar over the rupiah.
One of the performers, the President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, also enlivened the show by playing the role of Prince Singosari. This ketoprak performance featured the story "Prince Samber Nyowo."
"I am Prince Singosari, ready to defend the kingdom from enemy attacks," said the actor portraying Prince Singosari during one of the scenes on the Graha Bakti Budaya stage on Monday (27/4).
Another scene featured a performance between Ilya Avianti, a member of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners, and Halim Alamsjah, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI). On stage, dressed in traditional ketoprak attire, Ilya jokingly teased the BI official outside the narrative, saying, "Why is the dollar so strong?"
Ilya’s teasing didn’t stop there. She continued to joke with Halim, who was preparing to retire in June 2015. "There’s going to be a transition. Someone is busy preparing for the deputy governor election," she quipped.
Responding to his colleague’s remarks, Halim didn’t stay silent. "Shh, don’t talk about the dollar going up and down," he replied with a laugh. The regulators’ jokes left guest star Eko DJ puzzled.
"I’m confused. This ketoprak feels like kindergarten. Who’s the father, who’s the child? When it comes to banking, I’ll step back. I don’t understand," he joked.
Unlike the three performers mentioned earlier, Perbanas Chairman Sigit Pramono didn’t include any jokes in his performance. Instead, he took the opportunity to promote the branchless banking program. "This is about laku pandai, laku pandai, and more laku pandai. This is a sponsored message," he said.
The event, which started at 7:30 p.m., was attended by hundreds of participants from banking and non-banking sectors. They sat neatly while watching the ketoprak performers, consisting of bankers, insurance practitioners, senior editors, and OJK Board of Commissioners members.
The ketoprak show featured the theme "Prince Samber Nyowo" and included performances by various figures from the financial services and banking sectors, such as Muliaman D.
