The Indonesian Credit Guarantee Corporation Association (Asippindo) targets the total value of credit guarantees for micro and small businesses to reach Rp100 trillion. “This year, Perum Jamkrindo (Indonesian Credit Guarantee Corporation) targets Rp77 trillion, and with the combined members of Asippindo, namely Jamkrida (Regional Credit Guarantee Corporation), we are optimistic that the target of Rp100 trillion can be achieved,” said Asippindo Chairman, who is also Jamkrindo’s President Director, Diding S Anwar, in Denpasar.
Diding stated that the guarantee target set for 2015 had surged from the previous year’s target, which reached Rp42 trillion for Jamkrindo alone. The remaining target is expected to be supported by Asippindo’s members in the regions in the form of Jamkrida. Currently, Diding added, there are 19 guarantee companies under Asippindo, including Jamkrindo and Jamkrida.
Meanwhile, in Bali Province, PT Jamkrida Bali Mandara had disbursed credit guarantees amounting to Rp1.7 trillion by the end of 2014. Indra Putra, Director of Jamkrida Bali Mandara, said that 60% of the total funds were distributed to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
According to Indra, some MSMEs in Bali have guarantees but do not meet banking requirements. “For example, if someone wants to borrow Rp50 million but only has a guarantee worth Rp25 million, they will not have banking access,” he said.
He explained that his company had collaborated with banks in Bali, including commercial banks, LPDs (Village Credit Institutions), and cooperatives, so that access could eventually be opened. He expressed optimism that MSMEs in Bali could continue to grow. The growth of guarantees in Bali is quite significant. He stated that from 2013 to 2014, the growth was more than 50%. In 2013, the company guaranteed around Rp300 billion, and in 2014 it increased to around Rp700 billion.
This significant growth was due to the overall financial credit growth in Bali, which averaged 15% to 20%, and the growth of cooperation with Jamkrida Bali Mandara. “For our target in 2015, we will focus on BPRs (Rural Banks), LPDs, and cooperatives, and we hope the growth will be significant this year,” he added.
