SEMARANG - Perum Jamkrindo (Perusahaan Umum Jaminan Kredit Indonesia) has entered into a cooperation agreement with seven High Prosecutor's Offices to provide legal assistance and advice. This agreement covers seven new branch offices, namely Banda Aceh, Padang, Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, Serang, Kendari, and Palu.
The President Director of Perum Jamkrindo, Diding S. Anwar, explained that the cooperation pertains to the optimization of subrogation debt collection or the transfer of claim rights from guarantee recipients (banks) to Jamkrindo. Additionally, it aims to enhance internal oversight.
He stated that Jamkrindo, as a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) operating in the credit guarantee sector, often faces challenges in the field, including issues arising from customers that lead to non-performing loans.
"With the addition of seven new branch offices, Perum Jamkrindo now has a total of 28 branches. Furthermore, in the near future, this credit guarantee BUMN will open seven more branch offices," he said after the signing of the cooperation agreement with the Prosecutor's Office at Hotel Ciputra on Thursday evening (17/7/2014).
The establishment of these new branch offices is expected to drive the growth of Perum Jamkrindo's equity and assets. As of December 31, 2013, the company's equity stood at Rp6.55 trillion, marking a 29.72% increase compared to 2012. Meanwhile, the company's assets at the same time reached Rp8.29 trillion, reflecting a 24.51% increase from 2012.
On the other hand, the Assistant Attorney General (Jamdatun) of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office, Burhanuddin, stated that allowing third-party receivables to go uncollected constitutes an element of corruption. Therefore, to recover and safeguard state assets, the Attorney General's Office is committed to assisting Jamkrindo in this matter.
He mentioned that Jamdatun has already conducted two collections of third-party receivables for Jamkrindo. "As of this year, there are receivables amounting to Rp3.1 trillion from third parties to Perum Jamkrindo. We have initiated collections with two special powers of attorney and have successfully recovered Rp160 billion. Hopefully, this will contribute to our efforts in safeguarding government assets, particularly in the civil sector, especially for BUMNs," he explained.
He further clarified that legal actions will proceed regardless of the agreement. The MoU with Jamkrindo is not only meant to provide backup but also to ensure that if any wrongdoing occurs during implementation, the law will be enforced accordingly.
