Sumbawa, June 27, 2024 – PT Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo) continues to drive digitalization and transformation for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Indonesia. One of the initiatives was a coaching clinic held in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), under the theme "Creative Digitalization Strategies: Building a Strong Digital Footprint" on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
The event aimed to encourage MSMEs to adapt and innovate in response to technological developments by building a strong digital footprint. Among those attending the event were M. Ali, Head of the Cooperatives and MSMEs Department of Sumbawa, Ikhsan Patawari, Head of UPT PISDKP Sumbawa, Adhitya Noviardi, Founder of Mitme and Penakita, and Sonny Bijaksana, Branch Leader of PT Jamkrindo Sumbawa.
During the coaching clinic, which was attended by around 90 MSME owners, Jamkrindo emphasized the importance of building brand awareness and digital marketing in the face of intense competition in the digital era.
Sonny Bijaksana, Branch Leader of PT Jamkrindo Sumbawa, stated that MSMEs face the main challenge of a lack of knowledge and difficulty in adapting to the internet and technological advancements.
In response, Sonny explained that Jamkrindo has two programs to enhance the digital transformation capabilities of MSMEs. First, providing mentorship to MSMEs through training and consultations to improve the skills and knowledge of MSME owners. This will enable business owners to manage and grow their businesses more easily.
"Next, we focus on technology literacy for MSMEs, which involves providing information to MSMEs on using technology to support business management and improve production," said Sonny during the coaching clinic in Sumbawa.
Regarding the digitalization of services, Sonny added that as the largest credit guarantee company in Indonesia, Jamkrindo continues to innovate to increase financial accessibility for MSMEs and cooperatives by offering the "UMKM Layak" marketplace guarantee platform.
The UMKM Layak platform features include business assessments, access to financing, training and mentorship for MSMEs, a sharing forum for MSMEs, and information on business training opportunities.
"Through various forms of support, Jamkrindo continues to strive to maximize the capability-building of MSME businesses. We also appreciate the support from both the central and local governments, which have consistently committed to supporting and empowering MSMEs," he stated.
At the same event, M. Ali, Head of the Cooperatives and MSMEs Department of Sumbawa, mentioned that MSME owners must be consistent and diligent in developing their businesses. Furthermore, entrepreneurs should always be prepared to face changes, including the rapid digitalization.
On the other hand, he appreciated the coaching clinic training as a valuable opportunity for local MSMEs to grow and survive in the digital era. With these new skills, MSMEs in Sumbawa can optimize their potential and open up new paths in the digital world.
"We hope this mentoring program will be continuous so that MSMEs can fully benefit from it," he added.
Adhitya Noviardi, Founder of Mitme.id, mentioned that the coaching clinic activities were conducted in two phases: the first phase online and the second phase in person. This coaching clinic is expected to provide a strong foundation for MSMEs in Sumbawa to enter the digital era with the confidence and skills needed to compete in the increasingly complex global market.
"We believe that with the knowledge and skills gained from this training, MSMEs in Sumbawa will become more resilient in facing the challenges of the global market," he said.
One participant, Iswatun, a seaweed product business owner, shared that such training is much-needed by MSME owners. She mentioned that the last time MSMEs received mentoring was seven years ago. Sumbawa is a large producer of marine biota, and many local MSMEs are capable of producing goods independently.
"We hope this kind of training will be conducted more frequently, as we need business mentorship. Our region is a marine product producer, but due to the lack of knowledge about business, many of our products are taken by entrepreneurs from Lombok, while we want to do it ourselves," she explained.
